Supporting Independent Art, From Concept to Creation

The Postmodern Art Club Artist Commission Program is our commitment to fostering artistic autonomy, experimentation, and cultural reform. Built on the belief that artists shouldn’t have to wait for permission to create, this program provides direct financial and logistical support for artists to produce new work — on their own terms.

We commission emerging and independent artists to create original works that respond to timely themes through critical, personal, and socially engaged perspectives. Commissions are open to all disciplines, with a focus on works on paper, text, drawing, print, and hybrid forms that sit outside the traditional gallery system.

Why We Do This

At Postmodern Art Club, we exist to challenge the hierarchies and exclusions of the conventional art world. This program is one way we invest in artists not only as makers, but as thinkers, cultural workers, and agents of reform.

The commission prioritises:

  • providing a safety net for artists to take chances
  • to think, develop, and produce
  • including documentation, exhibition, and promotion

Reform: Inaugural Theme

Our first edition invited artists to respond to the theme “Reform” — reflecting on structures in need of change, and how art might intervene, resist, or reimagine. Commissioned works were exhibited and shared through both digital and physical platforms.

Where the Funding Comes From

The Commission Program is funded in part through profits from our art store (PoMo Art Store) and exhibitions. Every purchase you make supports not just a single artist, but the broader cultural ecosystem we’re building — one that values slow work, deep thinking, and long-term support.
